i headed to target today to look for some plastic wrap for some frames i need to wrap back up and put back into storage. i didn’t end up finding the plastic wrap i needed, but i did end up finding quite a few things to bring home from the halloween section.

i wandered over to what was left of the halloween items, and was surprised to see signs saying things were still only 50% off. thankfully there were a couple items that caught my eye and that i decided to price check them, because come to find out, everything was actually marked 90% off! yep, as soon as i realized that, it was back to the halloween section for me and the little man. plus, i may or may not have also driven to another target to see if they had a similar selection of items…
here’s is what we came home with:
thomas the train costume $2.00 (reg. $20)
the little man couldn’t wait to put this on when we got home! then he chugged around the kitchen tooting a make believe horn and chugging like a train. totally worth the $2!!! i could never rationalize $20 for a dress up outfit, but $2.00? that i can handle.
“fall” tissues $0.14 per box (reg. $1.49 each)
lady bug costume $4.00 (reg. $40)
**i figured this costume and the next costume i could take pieces from to create costumes in the future**
race car costume $3.00 (reg. $30.00)
little boy vampire costume $2.00 (reg. $20.00)
lightening mcqueen costume for play and dress up $1.20 (reg. $12.00)
fun halloween necklace $0.99 (reg. $9.99)
football t-shirt for titan: $3.00 (reg. $6.00)
**this shirt wasn’t part of the halloween but i thought it was cute and 50% off still isn’t bad**
adorable t-shirt for little girl $0.59 (reg. $5.99)
**no, i do not have a little girl, nor do i plan on having one any time soon, but i keep a gift shelf/bin stocked with christmas and birthday gifts for friends and family & these two items were way too cute to leave behind**
cute sparkle tutu skirt $1.29 (reg. $12.99)
doctor piggy bank $0.99 (reg. $9.99)
toy story trick or treat bag $0.50 (reg. $5.00)
fancy nancy halloween book $0.69 (reg. $6.99)
max & ruby halloween book $0.39 (reg. $3.99)
skull welcome/unwelcome sign $1.50 (reg. $15.00)
black gift bags (5 count) $0.30 (reg. $3.00)
halloween goblet $0.29 (reg. $2.99)
brain & mouse jello molds $0.59 each (reg. $5.98 each)
johnson & johnson first aid kit FREE after $1.00 off coupon (reg. $0.97)
full price total: $219.87
what i paid (before tax): $24.19
savings: $195.68!
…and there you have it! the results of a rather unexpected, but very successful shopping trip. i mean, i saved almost $200.00! 🙂
i LOVE decorating for halloween, and love it even more when i can find things for a fraction of the cost! sure i have to wait a year to use most these items, but now i’m all set for when october 1st rolls around next year, and i’m not having to run out and pay full price.
moral of the story, it doesn’t hurt to look once you’re already at the store and ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS price check at one of the little scanners! you never know when you might get a nice surprise!
the best part about all of this? anyone in that store could have gotten these same deals, other than the first aid kit, no coupons were needed. it was just a matter of taking a quick look at the halloween section and then double checking the prices. 🙂
