Today this handsome guy turned 29! We aren’t ones for HUGE birthday celebrations (especially for us adults) but we did manage to squeeze some celebrating in…

First thing this morning Titan fueled up for some birthday shopping with a little Boo Berry cereal! (Definitely not a healthy breakfast but we let it slide because what’s more fun than Halloween cereal in the month of October?! It’s all about the little things at this age…)

After breakfast it was off to do some shopping. I always like to take Ti to the Dollar Store and let him pick out his own gift for Dad. 🙂

Success!

Time for a quick wrap job! (And, no, Titan doesn’t sit in the front seat. He just wanted to make sure the gift was wrapped before we got home. And, he wanted to do it all by himself. Naturally…) 😉

Present time!

I loved that each thing Titan selected had some sort of thought behind it. For example, he knows Broc loves gummi bears and he figured he didn’t have enough money for an actual video game…so he got the next best thing – a Pinball Game! Love the way his little 4 1/2 year old mind works!

After shopping and presents we dropped Titan off at his cousins and then headed to the Megaplex Theaters at Jordan Commons for a double feature with my mom. (She was VERY nice to take us so we could get into the movies for FREE! An awesome employee perk that she very generously shares with us whenever we are in town.) We saw The Saratov Approach and Gravity on the IMAX in 3D. I have to admit that out of the two, The Saratov Approach was definitely my favorite. It was very well done and an incredible story! (It was also fun see a good family friend acting and playing a small part in it!) 🙂

Gravity in my opinion was a waste of two hours. The special effects were pretty cool, but past that, there wasn’t really any story line or real plot. I think the only thing that even remotely saved this movie was that it was on the IMAX and in 3D. Had the movie just been in a basic theater, I’m pretty sure we would have walked out. (Note: I should note here that I am not a fan of movies where it’s just one catastrophe after another in order to show off more special effects. And that’s exactly what this movie was!) After the movie all three of us agreed that it’s a movie we wouldn’t even have rented. It was free though and nice to enjoy some adult time.

And last but not least, we enjoyed some food from the food court at Jordan Commons. I usually get the same thing every time we go but this time I branched out and got the Cowboy Salad from the Deli. If you find yourself at a Megaplex Theater where this salad is an option – get it! It was SO yummy and a great alternative to all the not so healthy options like their cheesy bread or popcorn. 🙂

PS: I also got the chance to see Austenland last night with my mom and I LOVED it. Definitely worth going to. In fact, it makes a perfect Girls Night Out! The movie was very well cast and it definitely gave me a good laugh! So if you need a girls night movie, choose Austenland. And if you need a date night movie, go with The Saratov Approach! 🙂
