How in the world did it get to already be half way through June?! I swear I blinked and May was over. LOL Actually, we ended up doing quite a bit in May and that’s the main reason for the lack of posts the last few weeks. We’ve been a tad bit busy with Broc’s graduation, a trip to Disney World..and oh yeah…moving across the country. More on those three HUGE events later though. 🙂
Up first, our May in review! In May we…
Tried out the #1 restaurant in Colorado Springs on Trip Advisor which happens to be Uchenna an authentic Ethiopian restaurant. I’ll admit, I was a little unsure of this place when we first walked in, but the food was actually REALLY good! (Full restaurant review to come soon…) 🙂

We played a few rounds of laser tag at Shotz Laser Tag for family night! (If you live in Colorado Springs, make sure to go on $2 Tuesdays! Otherwise you end up paying $7 per person per game.)

We went to the mini golf course by our house one last time per Ti Guy’s request. 🙂

Quick tip, if you go mini golfing at 7 1/2 months pregnant, make sure to go with people willing to pick up your ball for you. Surprisingly, mini golf was trickier than Laser Tag with all the bending over to get my ball. Luckily, Titan was more than happy to be my ball boy.

We celebrated my 29th birthday a little early with a trip to Olive Garden.

And on the actual day of my birthday, Broc flew out to San Diego to help run a week long Cut Suit training course through his school. The timing of this trip wasn’t ideal, but it was such an awesome opportunity for Broc, we knew he had to take it. Having Broc gone all week wasn’t so fun, but he was able to send us the log in information for the cameras that were filming the training. So, whenever they did a training, we could sometimes catch Broc on camera. (**Note: Everything about this above photo is staged. This is not a real surgery or anything. Just a training exercise made to seem as real as possible.)

The flowers Broc and Ti got me for my birthday. Broc left Titan with some money to pick out flowers for me while he was gone & I’d say he did a pretty good job! 🙂

While Broc was away we kept busy doing some science experiments… (More on those later, but in the photo above Ti is testing out what makes an ice cube melt faster.)

…going to Lowe’s Build & Grow Events…

…and meeting Ronald McDonald.

We went to Mcdonalds one morning and it just so happened that Ronald McDonald was there doing a magic show, handing out flowers for Mother’s Day and signing autographs. Ti wasn’t the biggest fan of his clown costume, but we both actually enjoyed his magic show.

And for the last few random events in May…
The Mother’s Day Breakfast Titan and Broc made for me.

Broc all set for his last Mormon Poker Night with his RVU friends. (Yes, they themed the nights!)

And Titan at the RVU Family Picnic during graduation week.

We went to the RVU Graduate’s Family Picnic not really expecting much and were surprised to find they had a photo booth, face painting, someone making balloon animals, a bounce house and a lot more.

Plus, the food was pretty yummy too! They had it catered by a BBQ place and I think we all went back for seconds!

Last but not least, Titan on his way back from a ride in Papa Dan’s G6. We went up to visit Broc’s parents in Highlands Ranch one weekend to go through storage and run some other errands and Ti’s main request was that he get to take a cruise around town in Papa Dan’s G6 with the top down. Luckily, his Uncle Brady was nice enough to make sure the request happened.
Love that little man and his smile!

Another month has come and gone! Thankfully, April was the calm before the chaos that is going to be May and June. 🙂
In April…
Titan enjoyed having Broc around a lot more. Broc didn’t have a rotation for most of the month and so Ti got to have a lot more time with dad. Love seeing these two spend time together!

We made our traditional blueberry muffins for General Conference. Definitely one of my most favorite weekends of the year. I always learn SO much!

I took the oh so fun and tasty glucose test. This test really makes me re-think any and all sugar we are giving to our kids. LOL I felt SO gross after drinking it. I asked if that was normal (I couldn’t remember from the last time I took it which was 5 1/2 years ago) and was told that it was very normal and that it’s just all the sugar going through my system. My heart was racing, I was shaking, I felt nauseated and it was just not a good feeling.
Thankfully, this test and my blood work came back normal other than low iron. That wasn’t a big surprise or shocker though because I’ve always had low iron.

We implemented a tech free week (well mostly tech free) and instead spent time doing things like Kiwi Crate Projects

…and playing with Play Doh. (More to come on our tech free week in another post though!)

I took my finals for Winter semester!
I cannot even say what a relief it was to have my finals over with the second week in April. Such a relief that I can now just focus on the move we have coming up and this pregnancy. (Also, so nice not to have to lug my huge Mac to and from the Seminary Building to have my tests proctored every other week! Talk about a major pain. All well, the things we do for education, right?!)

Titan and I both got a virus of some sort and spent lots of time napping. 🙁 I always know this little man isn’t feeling well when he randomly falls asleep around the house.
He had a cough/tactile fever/lack of appetite/cough for a couple weeks and actually ended up with an ear infection. The ear infection was ZERO fun for everyone but thankfully a round of antibiotics cleared it right up and Titan was a trooper. Thankfully that is the first ever ear infection we have ever had to deal with.

We went to the Lowes Build and Grow Clinic and Titan got to build a Recycling Truck.

We tried out Firehouse Subs for the first time! So YUMMY! All the food we tried was really good. In fact, I seriously want to ask them next time where they get their pickles from. I have been wanting another one of their pickles every since we left.

Plus, we loved their decor. How fun are the fireman hats and Dalmatian print tables?!

We grabbed our traditional Rizuto’s Ice Cream after Date Night!

We enjoyed playing Titan’s new Bee Attitudes Game that he got for Easter.
Titan has a book called the Bee Attitudes and at the back of the book they advertise this game. For a year or two now Titan has been asking to get the game. The “Easter Bunny” finally tracked down the game for a decent price at Deseret Book and it’s now a family favorite.

…and Titan got a fun Easter package from his Grandma Cindy (my mom). Titan is definitely VERY lucky to have the grandparents that he has!

We took advantage of Scoop Fest at Baskin Robbins!
I love their mint chocolate chip ice cream but can’t bring myself to pay $2.29 per scoop. So when we heard they were advertising $1.00 per scoop during Scoop Fest, we decided to make a trip (or two!). Titan tried out the Spiderman flavor and had quite the colorful mouth after.

…and we spent more time at Lifetime where Titan still LOVES the rock wall. (We have been going in the evenings from 7:00-8:00 or so and so that is why he is in pajamas.)
Of course, this month since he had lost so much weight from the virus he had, we had to attach a leash so we could get him back down since he didn’t weight enough anymore to just repel down. Thankfully, his weight seems to be going right back up! 🙂 (Of course, that’s no surprise considering all our visits to Rizuto’s and Baskin Robbins!) 😉

Looking for a fun playdate idea? Take your kids to Scheels! I took Titan and his cousin to Scheels for a playdate/field trip today and they had a BLAST! I realize it’s actually a store, but they had so many fun things to look at and do that we spent over an hour there and didn’t do any shopping! It proved to be rather educational & perfect for two 4 year old little boys! 🙂
We started off our excursion by going on the ferris wheel and then made our way through the rest of the store.
A couple things to note, the ferris wheel is only $1.00 per person! (Talk about a good deal!) And, you do have to purchase your tokens at the front registers. So, if/when you go,  make sure to purchase your tokens right as you walk in, otherwise you will be back tracking up to the front to purchase them.
Also, your kids do have to be at least 36 inches tall to ride & there is enough room on each seat for one adult and two small children. I may or may not have called and asked that before I went. 🙂 (Please tell me I’m not the only one who thinks of all these teeny tiny details before I go anywhere? I just knew I didn’t want to get there and find out that we all couldn’t go together and so one would have to wait while the other rode, etc. Plus, at the time I didn’t think Broc would be with us. Can you tell I try think ahead and plan for every scenario possible? I’m kind of crazy like that, I know. Although with kids it’s all about working smarter, not harder…right?!) 🙂

After the ferris wheel we made our way up to the second floor to check out the “Animal Mountain”. I’m not sure if that’s even what it’s called, but that’s what the boys were calling it. Ti and his cousin had A LOT of fun looking at all the animals, asking names for the ones they didn’t know, etc. I think they would have spent another 30-60 minutes looking at all the animals had we let them.

These two kept pointing things out to each other and talking a mile a minute. It was so cute to watch!
I loved that we went for the ferris wheel and ended up having a mini lesson on habitats and animals as well. Learning on the go is always a plus! In this picture Broc was telling them all about the tarantula on the wall!

After the Animal Mountain it was over to the huge airplane hanging in the store that the boys spotted from the ferris wheel. They were a little disappointed they couldn’t go in the airplane, but were finally satisfied just taking a look at it.

Last but not least, on the way out we stopped at the Thomas Jefferson Exhibit. Thomas Jefferson is  an animatronic that moved and spoke telling the boys all about the Declaration of Independence. I’m not sure how much the boys will actually remember, but at least they’ve heard it once and can continue to build upon that as they get older. So we even got a mini history lesson in as well! Added bonus!

I found this plaque interesting and had fun reading all the facts and information. Good history review for myself!

(Side note: I saw this sign on the way out and snapped a quick picture to remind myself to watch out for future activities like this when we are in town. This event looks like a lot of fun for kids! And, it would be a great addition to a lesson about Pilgrims or Thanksgiving! Plus, it doesn’t hurt that it’s a FREE event! Have any of you ever been to one of their events? I’d love to know what you thought!

After Scheels we took the boys across the parking lot to McDonald’s for some mini ice cream cones, some time in the play place & of course a DC for me! I figured the more energy we can get these boys to burn off, the better! 😉
(Upon walking in, the cashier said that he had made an extra strawberry shake on accident and would we want it. A free shake? Sounds good to me!) 🙂

The boys played for quite a while and then settled in for a round of checkers in the “computer” area. I want to know when McDonald’s started adding in little tech stations to their play places? I have never seen stations like these in any other McDonald’s. Of course, I haven’t seen many McDonald’s like this one, period. There were definitely some nice additions to this new location (I think it’s less than a year old) and those additions included a better play place, these tech stations and a glass wall so you can see into the play play from the main dining area. For years I’ve wondered why they don’t put a wall in like that. Looks like they finally got a clue! 😉
Overall, today was a great day filled with lots of fun and even some learning! And, it all cost less than $5.00! That’s my kind of day!
What types of free (or really cheap) and fun activities do you like to take your kids too? I’m always on the lookout for new things to try out with Titan. We like our “relaxing” days but we also like to get out and go as well. 🙂
