how cute is the mini cardi with the zebra print? also comes in heather gray
so would love to buy this swim dress. perfect to wear while chasing my little man around the pool as it disguises all those parts that jiggle even after you’ve stopped moving
( i kind of have an addiction to swimsuits if you haven’t noticed!)
this scarf cardigan i think is super adorable. it also comes in heather grey. they displayed it as a swimsuit cover up and i thought that was a superb idea. definitely a fresh take on the cover up.

all of the above can be purchased at downeast basics
now for the details of the post, the wordy part, if you will.
on a whim i went to a “how to dress for your body shape” class put on by alicia at chic on a shoestring. i really had no idea what to expect, but hey, it’s two hours all about clothes, it’s got to be fun, right?

alicia did not disappoint. the five dollar price of admission was 100% worth it. especially with the goody bag containing discounts at downeast, as well as,  coupons for alicia’s personal shopping services. plus there was a super cute bracelet valued at more than five dollars included in the goody bag.

this girl definitely knows that she is talking about. i would love to go shopping with her. her tips and trends were right on and i got some very useful information. for example i now know i am a short torso, long leg body type. who knew? i’ve always figured i’m short all over. i also loved her talking about color, and about what is and isn’t a good investment. a lot of what she said was a little bit of a review, but she is so adorable, you don’t mind listening again. it’s funny i can design and decorate a room like its nothing, but dressing myself every morning? sometimes a stressful disaster. i’d much rather shop for home decor than for my own body. although i am getting better at putting together outfits. branching out a little more. i’m just not very adventurous. i like to stick to standards and classics for the most part. i’ve also become a little lazy since becoming a mom – time to say “shame on me!” and start having less “loungey” days.

alicia definitely inspired me to want to come home and go through my entire wardrobe. do some thorough investigating as to what i actually own. then reassess what does and doesn’t actually work for my body type. my petite, short torso, long legged body type. can’t wait to see what different outfits i can create with the clothes i already own.

oh, and also on hand. was the head designer for downeast basics. she had a lot of phenomenal tips as well. so happy to see she is the cutest thing ever and is a down-to-earth girl who has a real body – not a size 2 bean pole body. she’s got curves and she wears all of the items that downeast carries. love that!

alicia will be doing lots more events/workshops this year and if you need a little tweaking of your own in the clothing department i highly recommend attending one. i had fun and learned a thing or two. it would be a perfect girls night!

(the pictures above were some of my favorite clothing items featured during the night.)
